SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS FOR 2016
The management committee hope to hold the following social activities and events throughout the year. However, as dates have yet to be finalised, please check the club notice boards or ask a committee member for up-to-date information. Thank you.
Club Opening Day - Saturday 16th April 2016 at 2:30 pm. Although the Green Ranger & Green Keeper are not declaring the Green open on this day, the Club will be open. As there is no bowling, dress is smart casual. The Bar will be open & tea/coffee and biscuits will be on sale. It will be an opportunity for Bowling Members to indicate their availability for the Scheduled Friendly Weekday & Weekend Fixtures, and for the Scheduled Triples League matches. The Green Ranger, Alan Hemsley, and the Green Keeper, John York, will give advice concerning the care of the replacement Green, which is extremely important in its first year. It is intended that the Green will be open for play on Monday 2nd May 2016 in time for the first Scheduled Triples Matches.
Charity Event & Celebration of the Queen's 90th Birthday - Thursday 21st April at 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
Our main sponsor, (G. Seller & Co. Ltd.) has selected the Dorothy Goodman School as their charity for 2016, and
Kingscroft's Bowls Development Team has decided to give them a helping hand. The School meets the needs of children and young people with learning difficulties; see their website at www.dorothygoodman.co.uk to gain more information.
The chosen day for the charity event is co-incidently, the Queen's 90th birthday so let's raise a cup to Her Majesty on her special day. As you may or may not know, the Queen is the patron of our sport of Flat Green Lawn Bowls so the day will be a celebration for our Club as well.
There will be tea and coffee available, cakes/raffle/tombola and all proceeds will be donated to the Dorothy Goodman School so please come along and support this very worthy charity - thank you. G. Seller & Co. Ltd. has kindly donated £90 worth of Marks & Spencer Vouchers as the first prize in the raffle.
